BIBA joins PEIA as honorary member to strengthen cross-sector collaboration

The Pet and Equine Insurance Association (PEIA) has announced that the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has joined its growing line-up of honorary members.

The move marks another important step in PEIA’s work to bring together organisations from across the pet and equine insurance ecosystem to support a fair, trusted and sustainable future for the sector.

BIBA’s involvement is particularly significant because brokers play an important role in the distribution of pet insurance products and in helping consumers understand the cover available to them.

PEIA believes pet and equine insurance must be viewed as part of a much wider ecosystem and value chain, spanning insurers, MGAs, brokers, veterinary professionals, data and technology providers, fraud bodies, welfare organisations and other key stakeholders.

By working with associations and representative bodies, PEIA aims to strengthen the sharing of insight, intelligence and data across the sector, helping improve understanding of emerging issues and support better outcomes for consumers, firms and ultimately animals.

At the heart of this work is a shared commitment to supporting access to care through fair, trusted and sustainable pet and equine insurance.

Sharon Brown, CEO of the Pet and Equine Insurance Association, said:

“BIBA joining PEIA as an honorary member is an important development for us and for the wider conversation about the future of pet and equine insurance.

If we want to support fair, trusted and sustainable insurance, we need the right voices around the table from across the full value chain. Brokers bring an important perspective, not only in terms of distribution, but also in understanding customer needs, market challenges and where collaboration can make the greatest difference.

PEIA was created to connect the different parts of this market in a practical and constructive way. Partnerships with associations such as BIBA help us share insight more effectively, strengthen collective understanding and support more informed discussions around access to care, consumer trust and long-term sustainability.”

Graeme Trudgill, CEO of BIBA, said:

“We are pleased to join PEIA as an honorary member and to support its work across the pet and equine insurance ecosystem.

PEIA is creating an important platform for organisations to come together, share intelligence and explore the challenges and opportunities facing this market. We welcome the chance to contribute to those discussions and to support efforts that help build fair, trusted and sustainable pet and equine insurance.”

PEIA’s honorary members now include BIBA, the Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB), the Insurance Fraud Investigators Group (IFIG), the North American Pet Health Insurance Association (NAPHIA), the Pet Industry Federation (PIF), the Association of Microchip Database Operators (AMDO) and the International Institute for Canine Ethics (IICE).

PEIA was launched to bring together all parts of the pet and equine insurance ecosystem, including insurers, MGAs, brokers, vets, service providers and consumers, to support a fairer and more sustainable future for the sector. Its work focuses on improving collaboration, supporting better consumer outcomes and strengthening trust across the market.
