Sharon is the Founder and CEO of the Pet and Equine Insurance Association (PEIA), bringing over 30 years of insurance experience and a strong consumer focus to the role. A former MGA CEO and Lloyd’s broker executive, she has built products, businesses, and partnerships across the market. Now working independently through Nutshell Consultancy, Sharon helps insurers and MGAs grow with purpose – blending commercial strategy with a deep commitment to transparency, inclusion, and real-world impact.
She’s known for creating communities that bring stakeholders together, ensuring the voices of pet and horse owners are heard alongside those of insurers, vets, and service providers. Sharon also sits on the board of Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD), working in partnership with Alzheimer’s Society.
David is a corporate and commercial lawyer with over 35 years of experience advising across the insurance market, including brokers, MGAs, insurers, investors, and service providers. A founder and board member of the MGAA, he chairs its Regulatory and Compliance Committee and works closely with the FCA on regulatory matters.
He leads his own practice and Gibraltar-based consultancy, Insurelaw, supporting clients on UK and international insurance issues, including post-Brexit structures, governance, and transactions.
David has also advised the Government of Gibraltar on intermediary regulation.
Beyond his legal work, David is a keen sportsman, animal lover, and fundraiser, having completed 26 marathons and numerous endurance challenges for charity.
Justin is a Chief Underwriting Officer with over 28 years of experience in the insurance industry, specialising in pricing, underwriting, analytics and product design for leading InsurTech and insurance companies. Currently at ManyPets, he oversees pricing and underwriting whilst ensuring profitability across the broader portfolio.
Previously, Justin served as Chief Underwriting Officer for Personal Lines at RSA Insurance and held senior roles at RSA and Direct Line Group, focusing on Commercial Lines, Personal Lines pricing transformation, underwriting, and analytics. His extensive expertise has propelled significant advancements in data-driven decision-making, profitability and growth.
Outside of his professional endeavours, Justin is passionate about sports and community engagement, participating in various local charitable events and initiatives.
Suzy is a Chartered Insurance Broker, currently CEO of the Chartered Broker, SEIB Insurance Brokers who also owns Lansdown Insurance Brokers and WRS Insurance Brokers. SEIB is renowned in the Equine Insurance market who have been placing Horse Insurance through Delegated Binding Authorities for over five decades.
She commenced her career in the early 90’s. Obtaining her fellowship in 2010. Winner of the inaugural Women in Insurance Awards “Insurance Broker of the Year 2019”.
Suzy started her career in a high street broker working across all size broking houses including placing global business. Previously Past President of The Insurance Institute of Chelmsford & South Essex and currently sits on the CII Board as a Non-Executive Engagement Board Director.
Karl is a Senior Customer Partnership Manager at CRIF, a global organisation operating in the UK for over 25 years, providing decision-making solutions and information services to insurance companies, financial institutions, government bodies, and legal professionals.
Since joining CRIF in 2016, Karl has lead CRIF’s pet insurance solutions, collaborating with the pet insurance industry to explain the importance of data to optimise policy pricing and fraud detection. He has been working closely with pet insurers to understand their needs and develop pioneering initiatives to help them face their challenges. With over a decade of prior experience in general insurance, Karl brings a strong background in claims processing, fraud investigation, and claims fraud strategy to his role at CRIF.
Animals have always been a passion of Karl’s ever since being a small child, and now, outside of his role at CRIF, he runs a successful Highland Pony breeding stud.
Natalie is a senior executive, with 15 years of experience in the pet insurance sector. She co-founded Tedaisy Insurance Group in 2016, acting as Managing Director. (In 2025, Tedaisy was acquired by Europe’s largest pet insurer, Santée Vet).
Under Natalie’s leadership Tedaisy has become one of the UK’s fastest-growing pet insurers, with its award-winning Perfect Pet and Now Pet brands attracting thousands of customers each month. She oversees end-to-end strategy across product, operations, claims and marketing, championing a customer-first approach.
As a lifetime pet owner and animal advocate, Natalie brings passion to her profession, alongside experience from investments and finance before her career in pet insurance. Committed to fostering growth and learning for the people within her business.
Ian is the founder of Strategem Group Limited, advising insurers, MGAs, technology suppliers and distribution partners across the pet and personal-lines market. With over 25 years’ experience, he previously served as an Executive Director at a leading UK underwriter, where he helped shape product, underwriting, pricing and digital transformation agendas. Ian’s specialism is optimising the performance of insurance products to reduce operational cost while improving value aligning pricing, cover design, claims pathways and supplier models to deliver fair outcomes under Consumer Duty. He focuses on practical, technology-enabled delivery: integrating data and automation across the ecosystem, from quote and bind to claims and third-party connectivity, to cut friction, leakage and cycle times.
At Strategem he supports capacity placement and scalable, compliant distribution, working with underwriters, brokers, insurtechs, retailers and veterinary networks. His governance experience spans risk, operational resilience and third-party oversight. Collaborative and outcome-driven, Ian blends commercial rigour with hands-on execution to build sustainable growth.
John is currently Insurance Product Director for Pets at Home. He has over 35 years experience in the Health Insurance over 20 of these within the human health market and the last 12 years being in the pet world.
Previously headed up pricing, underwriting and claims at Agria Pet Insurance for 9 years during a sustained period of substantial growth and additional product lines offerings and developments. Here spent time working with the Vet community to help understand the impact of insurance on the Vet World. Part of the team that brought Pet Insurance to Policy Experts portfolio last year.
Outside of work John is a member and avid follower of Surrey County Cricket Club and actively follows other sports. A keen reader and collector of books.
Nicholas is a Programme Underwriter in the Pet & Equine division at Burns & Wilcox Global Specialty, responsible for developing, overseeing and optimising niche underwriting programmes across the animal health and equestrian sectors. He holds a BA (Hons) in Business Management and Cert CII (London Market), bringing a disciplined, data-driven and commercially focused approach to underwriting.
His career spans the Lloyd’s and London Market, including underwriting roles at Aviva in Corporate Specialty Risks managing complex broker portfolios, Account Management at Hilti GB delivering certified engineering and firestop solutions on major construction and infrastructure projects, and most recently Fidelis Consultants. There, he led large property and commercial scheme placements, conducted regulatory audits of Lloyd’s coverholders, and worked with leading law firms tracing legacy insurance cover for FTSE 100 clients.
Nicholas is recognised for his strategic thinking, operational rigour and ability to deliver profitable outcomes in emerging and specialist lines, alongside strong regulatory and relationship management expertise.
Outside of work, he enjoys the outdoors, travel and endurance sports, having completed the London Marathon, RideLondon, London to Brighton, and the Marathon du Médoc.
Chartered management accountant with over 20 years Insurance experience spanning Aviva, Direct Line Group and Admiral. Worked across multiple business lines either setting up or running established businesses and generating true customer and commercial value across Pet, Life Insurance, Breakdown, Home Insurance and Income Insurance.
Currently, Pet Director at Admiral Group having launched the business in 2022 and undergone a rapid scaling up through both organic growth and acquisition to establish the business as a leading player in the Pet Insurance sector.
David has worked in insurance for most of his professional life, starting as a Reinsurance Broker before dedicating over 25 years to the Pet Insurance sector. With more than 50 years of experience in the industry, he is recognised as an effective manager and achiever, with confidence and significant presence.
In 1999, David founded Thornside Ltd, a highly profitable Pet Insurance Broker that delivered a fully integrated white-labelled solution, offering complete Sales & Fulfilment and claims capability. Through his strong leadership, marketing expertise, and significant skill in new business development, broking, and account management, he built the company into a multi-million-pound operation.
Charlotte has over 20 years’ experience in general insurance and is an actuary. She has been building high-growth insurtech MGA businesses for the last 15 years, holding key executive roles in market-changing insurtech companies from start-up to unicorn or sale. Charlotte Halkett is a senior consultant in Milliman’s London office, leading insurtech and innovation services for the UK Property & Casualty Practice. Prior to Milliman, Charlotte spent 15 years revolutionising insurance solutions in the pet insurance, motor telematics, and household insurance industries. She most recently served as Chief Underwriting Officer of the insurtech unicorn, ManyPets, and was notably a founding team member of black-box pioneer insurethebox. Charlotte is well-known across the insurance industry for her drive for innovation, championing positive evolution in a fast-changing world and in companies with a real vision to shout about.
David is a highly regarded figure in the insurance industry, with over 30 years’ experience in General Insurance. He is perhaps best known for leading AXA Insurance’s Claims and Underwriting functions for more than two decades. In 2022, David transitioned permanently to a Non-Executive and Advisory career, whilst continuing to support AXA and others on a board advisory and consultancy basis.
In 2025, David was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award from Modern Insurance Magazine. His previous accolades include Social Media Influencer of the Year in 2018, the Insurance Post Claims Achievement Award in 2019, and — in the same year — Insurance Personality of the Year at the prestigious British Insurance Awards, held at the Royal Albert Hall.
David currently chairs the Fire Protection Association, a joint venture between insurers and the fire services, and serves as a Non-Executive Director for Qlaims Ltd. He also provides board support to AXA Insurance UK and Stella Woman Ltd.
Originally from Bristol — which explains his lifelong passion for Bristol Rovers — David now lives in Suffolk with his wife Catherine and their two sons, Evan (20) and Ryan (18), alongside a collection of cats and the occasional chicken.
Peter Blanc is a senior leader in the UK insurance broking market, best known for building Aston Lark into one of the largest independent brokers in the UK. As Group CEO, he led a sustained period of rapid growth, combining strong organic performance with an ambitious acquisition strategy that significantly expanded the firm’s national footprint and specialist capabilities.
In 2022, Aston Lark was acquired by Howden Group Holdings, marking one of the most significant transactions in the UK broking sector. Following the sale, Blanc became Strategic Advisor to Howden, where he leads on global M&A activity, supporting the group’s continued international expansion.
Peter served as President of the Chartered Insurance Institute from 2022 to 2023 and holds the ACII (Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute) qualification.
With decades of experience in the industry, Blanc is widely recognised for his entrepreneurial approach, deal-making expertise, and ability to scale high-performing broking businesses.
With a distinguished career spanning regulatory supervision, risk analysis, policy formulation, and remediation programmes, Fiona brings rigorous technical expertise alongside a proven ability to build and lead high-performing organisations through periods of transformation and change.
Having recently transitioned into a Non-Executive Director role, Fiona chairs and serves on multiple boards and management committees, offering PEIA members authoritative insight into governance, organisational design, and regulatory best practice.
